Hurricane Felicia Update

Hurricane Felicia Over Hawaii - August 10, 2009

Here’s the latest update on Hurricane Felicia as of Monday morning – August 10, 2009. Hurricane Felicia has weakened and was downgraded to a Tropical Storm Felicia as the speed of winds dropped to 70 mph sustained. As of 4.30am HST, Felicia has been 340 miles east northeast of Hawaiian island Hilo, and has been moving west at 10 miles per hour.

Effective today and in effect until tomorrow, a tropical storm watch and as well as a flash flood watch have been issued by The National Weather Service for the Big Island and Maui County, Hawaii. The winds of Felicia are dying out, but Hawaii is going to experience heavy rainfall that can cause flooding and landslides.

Hurricane Felicia reached its peak Thursday, august 6, 2009 as a Category 4 hurricane, reaching sustained winds of over 140 mph.
